Estonian Floorball brings the U19 Women’s World Championship Qualification Tournament to Estonia

The tournament will take place on 26–30 January 2027 in Tartu at the Estonian University of Life Sciences Sports Hall. This will already be the second World Championship qualification tournament to be held in Estonia within a relatively short period of time.

In September, Estonia also hosted the U19 Men’s World Championship Qualification Tournament, bringing strong national teams from across Europe to Jõgeva. Estonia, Austria, Slovenia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Hungary competed in the tournament. To the delight of the strong home crowd, it was the Estonian U19 men’s national team that secured qualification for the World Championships.

The tournament provided memorable moments for both the players and the spectators. Nearly 2,000 people attended the matches at the Jõgeva Sports Hall over the five-day tournament.

Hosting a major international tournament provided the Estonian Floorball Union with highly valuable and positive experience. The matches were played on a high-quality Gerflor floorball court, the same type of surface used at the highest international level. The games were officiated by internationally recognised and licensed referees from Finland and Poland. The participating national teams were provided with comfortable accommodation close to the venue and smooth transportation directly to the arena.

The event was the first major international floorball tournament organised in Estonia in eight years. The Estonian Floorball Union received very positive feedback from the International Floorball Federation, the participating national teams and spectators. The experience gained in Jõgeva provides a strong foundation for organising the U19 Women’s World Championship Qualification Tournament in Tartu in January 2027.

The U19 Women’s World Championship Qualification Tournament will once again bring international floorball to Tartu and give Estonia’s young players the opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd for a place at the World Championships.

The Estonian Floorball Union would like to thank all its partners whose support makes it possible to organise international floorball tournaments in Estonia!
